Where most Kentucky based blends are strong and can lack a pleasant room note, contrary to it's name, this one is not too strong at all and its room note can draw a crowd's curiosity. The licorice undertone of Dark Kentucy gives this blend just the tart sweetness needed to make this an interesting and complex smoke. Wow wow wow WOW, woah! The cavendish adds creaminess and body, the VA's add sweetness and tartness, the Dark fired Kentucky, which is strong powerful stuff, is not a primary component of the blend to my palatte, only used in sparce amounts but you still detect it when you hit it-- just a touch of that very characteristic, smokey and stout DFK note. I will say I found it to work and taste best in a very small pipe which belies the fact that it is not that strong in nicotine to me.
